Darren & Callum in action

Speedsport managed drivers Darren Manning and Callum Macleod have been in action recently.

Darren finished 4th in the LMP2 class of the Le Mans Series 1000km race at Silverstone recently, driving with team mate Warren Hughes. This highly professional pairing drove the WFR car with great speed and determination, and but for a minor engine problem would have finished on the podium.

Callum has been racing in the Caravelle Formula Junior and his Dallara F3 car, with both outings promising much, but ultimately ending in disappointment !

At Oulton Park in wet conditions, he sensationally put the MK2 Caravelle on pole position by over 2.5 secs from much more modern machinery, only to suffer engine and throttle woes on the opening laps resulting in a non finish. However, the potential of this car, being developed by the Speedsport Team, was evident for all to see.

Moving on to Magny Cours for the latest rounds of the European Open F3 series, Callum again excelled by placing his 06 car 5th.on the grid, outpacing many 08 cars and well clear of his fellow 06 class drivers. Racing well, he was in 3rd.position and about to overtake a struggling Adrian Campos Jnr for 2nd position when he was hit by the 4th. place driver and eliminated from the race.

Race 2, was even more unfortunate, with a first lap tap from behind sending Callum into retirement, and with zero points, back into second position in the Copa D'Europe category.

Next race is at Monza on October 3/4 where we will be hoping for better luck !
