Michael O'Brien signs for McLaren!

Following a highly successful 2017 season with Speedsport/Classic Team Merlyn and multiple wins in the Ssangyong racing challenge, Michael O'Brien was announced on Tuesday, November 21st as a McLaren driver for 2018.
Multiple wins in all contested championships through 2017 was a real highlight for former Classic Team Merlyn driver Michael O'Brien. Following all of this great success, Michael got the chance to test with McLaren out at Paul Ricard with a view to joining the newly announced McLaren Driver development programme.
The test would go extremely well, with Michael setting ultra competitive lap times, including the fastest lap of all the pros in the 650s sprint (hybrid between GT3/GT4). With McLaren seemingly impressed and eager to sign this years double Silverstone Classic winner, everything then moved very quickly, leading up to the announcement on Tuesday.
Michael commented "to join McLaren really is a dream come true, it's going to be fantastic to have all the help and guidance from such a brilliant team! I can't wait for 2018 to start"
Michael will race in the 2018 British GT championship in the McLaren 570S GT4 with the sole aim of winning the championship for both him and McLaren.

9 - Donington Park - September 22/23 - 1x 2hr
