Callum MacLeod takes 2 Copa D'Espania Victories
Callum MacLeod and the Speedsport/West-Tec team had a very successful weekend at Spa for round 5/6 of the European Open F3 Championship.
Despite never having driven at Spa before the two x 30 minute practice sessions on Friday, Callum put in a great performance to qualify fifth overall and first in class for Saturday's race.
A great start saw him in 3rd. place on lap one, and although the 2006 car lacks the straight line speed of the 2008 cars on Spa's long flat out sections, he held on in the lead bunch to take a fantastic 3rd. place overall and first in class.
For Sunday's race Callum started fourth on the grid and another good start saw him second into La Source Hairpin! The plan was to drive a conservative race and try to cement the Copa D'Espania lead, which Callum duly did, finishing fourth overall and first in class by over 14 seconds.
Next rounds are at Donington on July 4/5 where we are hoping for more success on home ground.
