Callum in final 6 for McLaren Autosport Award

Oct 12th, 2009

Great opportunity for MacLeod

Callum MacLeod has been confirmed in the final 6 drivers who will test a variety of cars, and undergo a series of other tests to decide the 2009 winner of the prestigious McLaren Autosport award.

This is the most prestigious award a young driver can attain, with the winner receiving a cheque for £50,000 a test drive in a McLaren Formula One car and full membership of the BRDC.

Callum was also nominated in 2007 after winning the British Formula Ford Championship, but the award somewhat controversially went to Stefan Wilson that year.

We are hoping for a better outcome this time, although it won't be easy as Callum is pitted against the likes of Dean Smith, this year's Formula Renault Champion and James Cole, this year's Formula Ford Champion.

The asessments take palce at Silverstone in November with the winner announced at a glamorous awards evening at the Grosvenor Hotel early in December.

In the meantime Callum heads to Jerez for the penultimate rounds of the European Open F3 Championship, hoping to regain the championship lead in the Copa D'Espania class for 2006 cars.
