Silverstone Finals report

Dec 31st, 2016

A weekend of mixed fortune for Classic Team Merlyn at the HSCC Silverstone Finals

Team driver Mark Shaw, who'd come into the weekend with a chance of claiming a top 3 championship position suffered some bad luck during the weekends races.

After Qualifying second, just 0.016 off Pole position, Mark was in a good position to end the year with a poduim finish. Unfortunetly, after getting hit by another car which tore the rear brake line, Mark had to nurse the car to the end of the race, finishing in what was a dissapointing 8th after such a strong start.

In the second race, Mark made a great start and had a strong first lap, moving the car up to fourth position. Mark unforutnetly wouldn't go much further after a miss judgment from another driver flipped Mark's car up into the air, causing it to roll at the Maggots/becketts complex, this sadly put an end to a great race and any hope of a top 3 in the series.

The Silverstone FInale also saw the edition of a new team driver, Benjamin Anderson, who is Autosports Formula one Corrisondent.

Benjamin was standing in for regular driver, Benjamin Tusting, who sadly injured his back in a start line crash at the Oulton Park Gold Cup meeting.

Benjamin Anderson hadn't driven a Formula Ford for almost three years but managed to qualify a very respectable 5th in his group.

He then went on to record two solid top 10 finishes, with a best result of 6th place in race two.

Congratulations to all of our team and drivers for a very enjoyable and succesful season! We look forward to returning next year.

Next up for the team is the WHT!
