Larousse Lola on track

David Harrison has first F1 drive

David Harrison tried his lovely Larousse Lola F1 car for the first time on Silverstone's Stowe Circuit Tuesday July 14th.

Chassis 03 which was mainly the spare car during the 1988 season, was purchased in the USA last year, and has been prepared by Kevin and Dave in the Speedsport workshops.

Luckily we avoided the heavy showers and the car ran perfectly, sounding beautiful as its Cosworth DFR propelled it at insane speeds along Stowe's bumpy straights.

David coped well with the jump from Radical SR3 to F1 car, with the 5 speed, straight cut hewland gearbox being the most difficult thing to master.

An ecstatic Harrison loved every moment of the all too short test, and Speedsport boss Mike O'Brien commented : "it was fantastic to unload the Lola from our truck and see and hear it perform perfectly"

The real work starts now as the car will be stripped down to enable the engine to be rebuilt and various other jobs are completed before it next runs in anger on a full scale circuit.
